Union County Georgia Hiking Trails
Slaughter Creek Trail
|
| Beginning near the Lake
Winfield Scott Campground, the 2.7 mile Slaughter Creek Trail
climbs gradually to the Appalachian Trail, south of Blood Mountain.
Rated moderate, Slaughter Creek Trail enters the Blood Mountain
Wilderness where the blue blazes become infrequent.
To reach Slaughter Creek Trail from Blairsville
Georgia, travel south along US 19/129 for 9.5 miles and turn right
(west) onto GA 180. Continue along GA 180 for 7 miles to the main
entrance to Lake
Winfield Scott Campground. |

|
Turn left into the campground and
follow this road over a hill. Continue straight ahead into a gravel
parking lot at the foot of the hill. From the parking lot, hike along
the paved road passing the guard rail at the head of the lake. The trail
is located along the right side of the road, just past the guard rails.
