Towns County Georgia Hiking Trails

High Shoals Trail

Located north of Unicoi Gap, the 1.2 mile High Shoals Trail travels down via a series of long switchbacks to a creek crossing. Afterwards, High Shoals Trail follows the creek to the viewing platforms of Blue Hole Falls followed by High Shoals Falls. Rated moderate, High Shoals Trail receives heavy use.

To reach High Shoals Trail

From Hiawassee Georgia, travel 9 miles south along GA 17/75 and turn left onto Indian Grave Gap Road (Forest Service Road 283). Continue along FR 283 for 1.5 miles to the small parking lot at the trailhead on the left.

From Helen Georgia, travel along GA 17/75 for 11.4 miles and turn right onto Indian Grave Gap Road (Forest Service Road 283). Continue along FR 283 for 1.5 miles to the small parking lot at the trailhead on the left.
