Fires Creek Recreation Area, North Carolina Recreation Areas

Home to Leatherwood Falls (Fires Creek Falls) and the Bristol Horse Camp, Fires Creek Recreation Area offers a variety of amenities and recreational opportunities including, hiking, back-packing, horseback riding and primitive camping.

To reach Fire's Creek Recreation Area

From Hayesville North Carolina, on US 64W, take NC 1301 northeast 3 miles to NC 1300. Travel west along NC1300 to FR 1344 (at the sign for Fire's Creek). Travel north 1.6 miles to Fire's Creek parking area.

From Murphy North Carolina, travel east along US 64 towards Hayesville for 9 miles and turn left onto NC 1300. Continue north along NC 1300 for 4 miles and turn onto NC 1344, which will become Forest Service Road 340.
