Augusta County Virginia Hiking Trails
North
River Gorge Trail
|
|
George
Washington and Jefferson National Forests
The North River Gorge Trail offers beautiful streamside scenery,
interesting geology, and a chance to fish or view wildlife. It has gentle
grades but requires fording the North River nine times so it should be
hiked during periods of low water.

Directions:
The trail can be reached from a gated road leading from the
south side of FDR 95 about 1 mile west of the Wild
Oak Trail parking area. The trail can also be accessed near the North
River Campground. Parking is available along FDR 95 but is not permitted
in the North River Campground, except for those actually camping there.
