Wayah Bald Lookout Tower Trail, Macon County North Carolina Hiking Trails

Located within Nantahala National Forest, the 1.5 mile Wayah Bald Lookout Tower Trail is rated moderate. Traveling up to the National Historic Landmark, Wayah Bald Lookout Tower, this trail provides access to the Appalachian Trail and the Bartram Trail, and is handicapped accessible.

To reach Wayah Bald Lookout Tower Trail from Franklin North Carolina, travel west along US 64 for 4 miles and turn right at the Wayah Bald directional sign.

Continue to the first left, Wayah Road (NC 1310). Continue along Wayah Road to the sign for Wayah Bald and turn right onto FR 69. Travel 4.5 miles along FR 69 to the parking area.
