Rufus Morgan Trail, Macon County North Carolina Hiking Trails

Located within Nantahala National Forest, the 1 mile Rufus Morgan Trail forms a loop which is rated moderate. Marked with a blue blaze, Rufus Morgan Trail reaches a 10' waterfall (no name known). Shortly thereafter (around 0.5 mile) a side trail is reached which travels to the 50' Rufus Morgan Falls, aka Rough Fork Falls.

To reach Rufus Morgan Trail from Franklin North Carolina, travel west along US 64 for 4 miles and turn right at the Wayah Bald directional sign.

Continue to the first left, Wayah Road (NC 1310). Continue along Wayah Road for 6.5 miles to Forest Service Road 388 and turn left. Follow FR 388 for 2 miles to the parking area for Rufus Morgan Trail.
