Art Loeb Trail
Section 2

| Located in Transylvania
and Haywood
County, within Pisgah National Forest,
the 7.2 mile second section of the 30.1 mile Art Loeb Trail climbs
from Gloucester Gap to Pilot Mountain, where a 360° view is
available. Winding through a mature upland hardwood forest, Section 2
of the Art Loeb Trail continues to the Blue Ridge Parkway. After
reaching the Parkway, Art Loeb Trail climbs steeply to Silvermine
Bald. A split is reached near Silvermine Bald, with the
Mountains-to-Sea Trail traveling west. Art Loeb Trail follows the
ridge, traveling northeast to Forest Service Road 816. |

To reach Section 2 of the Art Loeb Trail from the State Fish Hatchery on
FR 475, travel west for 4.5 miles. Overnight parking is not recommended.
