Himes Peak Trail #1877

Available for Hiking, and Horseback Riding,
the 4.5 mile Himes Peak Trail climbs steeply from the road, crossing a
small creek to a large meadow below Shepherds Rim. Climbing gradually
for 2 miles the trail switchbacks for 1 mile off the bench to a large
meadow. Continuing along the meadow for another mile to Florence Lake
the trail travels on about 0.5 miles to Big Fish Trail
#1819. From this junction the trail continues on to the Flat Tops.

To reach Himes Peak Trail from Meeker Colorado, travel east along CO 13
for a mile and turn east onto CR 8. Continue along CR 8 for 39 miles and
turn south onto Trappers Lake Road (FR 205). Travel along CR 205 for 10
miles to Trappers Lake Lodge. Turn south after Trappers Lake Lodge and
cross the bridge to the campgrounds. Continue 2 miles through the
campgrounds to the Himes Peak Trailhead.
