A fairly well maintained dirt road with several steep
sections, the 5.5 mile Midnight Mine Road receives less use than Little Annie
Road. Beginning with a short descent, Midnight Mine
Road then crosses a bridge and starts it's continuous uphill climb.
Passing several private drives, the road becomes steeper with several
switchbacks. At about the 4 mile mark a junction with Little Annie Road is
reached. Stay left to continue to the top of Aspen Mountain and Sundeck
Restaurant. A loop may be formed by traveling up Midnight Mine Road and
down Little Annie Road. |

To reach Midnight Mine Road from Aspen
Colorado, travel west along Highway 82 for 0.5 mile to the Roundabout.
Travel around the roundabout and turn right onto Castle Creek Road.
Continue along Castle Creek Road for about 2.5 miles to the signed
Midnight Mine Road turn-off on the left. |
