Graham County North Carolina Campgrounds

Santeetlah Creek Campground

Nantahala National Forest

The Santeetlah Creek Camp Area contains many camp sites maintained by the U.S. Forest Service.  Most are within a few feet of the creek. This is an area of National Forest that joins the Joyce Kilmer Wilderness. Seasonal hunting, fishing, along with annual hiking and camping are the primary uses for this area.

Santeetlah Creek Camp Area is located about 13 miles from Robbinsville in the western part of Graham County. From Robbinsville, take Highway 129 North for 1½ miles to the junction with Highway 143 West (Massey Branch Road). Follow Highway 143 and the signs for the Cherohala Skyway.

At Santeetlah Gap turn right onto Joyce Kilmer Road. Continue about 25 feet and turn left onto Forest Service Road 81. Continue on this gravel road for access to the campgrounds along Santeetlah Creek and interior trail heads for Stratton Bald, Stratton Meadows, Stewart Cabin, Swan Cabin, Swan Meadows, and junctions with Naked Ground Trail and Slickrock Trail.
