Kings Gap Environmental Education and Training Center
The 1.6 mile (loop) Forest Heritage Trail connects several prominent charcoal hearths. Although
the hearths have been inactive for over 100 years, most of them remain
fairly free of vegetation due to changes in soil caused by the charcoaling
process. Forest Heritage Trail is rated Moderate.
Directions:
The center's entrance is on Pine Road, one mile east of the Huntsdale
Fish Hatchery. From Interstate 81, take Exit 37. At the exit, travel south

miles. The entrance to the center is on the right.
