Gorge Trail

Following the gorge from Burnt Hill Road to Mark Smith Road, the 1.25 mile Gorge Trail is located on the southern portion of the Forest and is accessed from Burnt Hill Road/Gorge Pond parking area or a parking lot on Mark Smith Road which is about 0.75 miles south of NY 79.

The Gorge Trail intersects with the Backbone Trail and the Interloken Trail.

To reach Backbone Trail from Watkins Glen New York turn right onto NY 414 North, at the Forth Street intersection travel 9.0 miles north past the Hector Ranger Station (on right). Turn right onto Schuyler County Route 2 and continue 3.5 miles east to Burnt Hill Road. Turn right onto Burnt Hill Road and continue 2.5 miles to Gorge Pond parking area on the east side of the road.
