Maryland Wildlife Management Areas

Dan's Mountain Wildlife Management Area

Located within Allegany County Maryland, the 9,504 acre Dans Mountain WMA offers an elevation range from 900' to 2,800' and is the largest contiguous state-owned forest within Maryland. Managed to provide habitat for a variety of forest wildlife, Dans Mountain Wildlife Management Area also offers the opportunity for hunting, hiking and mountain biking.

Dans Mountain WMA is located between MD 220 and MD 36. Access is limited to 2 areas along the East side of MD 220 and 2 areas along the west side of MD 36.

To reach Dans Mountain WMA from Cumberland Maryland travel south along MD 220. Sighs along the road will indicate access points.

To reach the western side, travel south along MD 36 for 6 miles and turn left onto Buskirk Hollow Road.
