Oconee County South Carolina Hiking Trails

Bad Creek Spur Trail

Located within Lake Hartwell State Recreation Area, the 0.6 mile Bad Creek Spur Trail travels from the parking area at Bad Creek Hydroelectric Plant, through fields and on to a ridge where views of Lake Jocassee are available. Bad Creek Spur Trail serves as a connector trail for Coon Branch Trail, Foothills Trail and Lower Whitewater Falls Trail (via Foothills Trail) and is rated moderately strenuous.
To reach Bad Creek Spur from Walhalla South Carolina, travel north along SC 11 to SC 130 and turn left. Continue along SC 130 for 10 miles to the entrance of Duke Power Bad Creek Hydroelectric Station on the right. Continue through the gate and follow the signs for 2 miles to the parking area of Whitewater Falls and Foothills Trail.
