Summers County West Virginia Hiking Trails

Canyon Rim Trail

New River Gorge National River

Length: 0.7 miles

Beginning near the employees’ parking area at the Canyon Rim Center, this steep trail descends 500 feet to Heritage Point, a massive sandstone outcropping. The overlook offers an excellent view of the Bluestone River Gorge and Mountain Creek Lodge.

Directions:

From Beckley:
Follow Interstate 64 East to the Grandview Exit (Exit 129 B). Turn right, and follow Route 9 North six miles to Grandview. Follow signs to the Main Overlook.

From Lewisburg:
Follow Interstate 64 West forty miles to the Grandview Exit (Exit 129). Turn right, and follow Route 9 North six miles to Grandview. Follow signs to the Main Overlook.
