Nicholas County West Virginia Hiking Trails

Pierson Hollow Trail
Located within Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park, the 0.8 mile Pierson Hollow Trail branches off the Patterson Trail across from the museum. Passing through a stand of mature trees, Pierson Hollow Trail ends at the Gauley River. With most of the trail being rated moderate, the last 0.25 mile is steep and rocky. To reach Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park from Route 19, south of Summerville West Virginia, take Route 129 west of about 5 miles and turn left onto Carnifex Ferry Road. Continue along Carnifex Ferry Road for about a mile to the park.
