Old Carnifex Road

Carnifex Ferry Battlefield

Length: 1.5 miles Rating:

Begins near Shelter # 3 and ends at the Gauley River. This was the road used for Confederate General Floyd’s retreat, and it ends at the site of the original Carnifex Ferry. Although moderate to strenuous in difficulty, this trail offers the best access to the river.
