Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park

Located within New London County Connecticut, Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park is the site of the 1781 massacre. Led by the infamous Benedict Arnold, British Forces massacred 88 of the 165 defenders stationed there on September 6, 1781. Today Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park offers a Museum, picnic tables, a monument and portable toilets.

To reach Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park from I-95, take exit 87 onto Clarence B. Sharp Highway to Meridian Street. Turn right onto Meridian Street and continue to Mitchell Street and turn left. Follow Mitchell Street to Park Avenue. Travel along Park Avenue of 1 block to the park.
