Middle Fork Road (Swan River) #6

Available for both hiking, mountain biking, and
4WD, the 9.2 mile (one-way to summit of Wise Mountain) Middle Fork
Road passes by Tony Mine and the old mining town of Swandyke. Views of
Wise Mountain (12,052') are available on the left while on the right is
Sheep Mountain (12,495'). The Continental Divide is visible just to the
south of Sheep Mountain. Past Swandyke, Middle Fork Road will eventually
bend around the wet to Wise Mountain.

To reach Middle Fork Road from I-70, exit 203 for Frisco/Breckenridge and
travel south along Highway 9 towards Breckenridge. Continue for 6.7 miles
and turn left onto Tiger Road (CR 6) and travel 6.6 miles. Passing Good
Time Tours on the left, Middle Fork Road is straight ahead. |
