Available for hiking and horseback
riding, the 6.6 mile Manzanares Trail is steep and rocky. Manzanares
Trail offers several different use-regulations. Some parts are available
for 4WD, however this section of Manzanares Trail enters Mount Zirkel
Wilderness and is limited to hiking and equestrian use only. Campsites
are limited along Manzanares Lake and horse forage is limited to the
meadows along the West Fork Three access points are
available for Manzanares Trail:

- Turn off Highway 40, two miles outside Steamboat Springs Colorado onto
CR 129. Travel about 32 miles along CR 129 to the fork just past
Columbine and go right onto FR 550. Continue along FR 550 for 2.5 miles
and turn right onto FR 500. Travel 1.5 miles to FR 402 and turn right.
Continue to the end of FR 402 and park. Travel along Farwell Mountain
Trail #1203 for 1.5 miles to Manzanares Trail.
- Follow access #1 to FR 500. Continue 2 miles east along FR 500 and
turn right onto FR 505. Travel 0.5 mile along FR 505 and turn left onto
FR 498 and park at the end of the road at the Manzanares Trailhead.
- Follow access #1 to FR 500. Continue 4 miles along FR 500 and turn
right onto FR 500.1A. Park at the end of this road.
