Available for hiking, biking, ATVs (until
Manzanares Trail) and horseback
riding, the 4.3 mile Farwell Mountain Trail begins wide enough for
ATVs until the intersection of Manzanares Trail (at 1.5 miles). From this
point ATVs are not allow along Farwell Mountain Trail as the trail turns
into a narrow single track which travels up a steep wooded side hill for
another 1.5 miles. Farwell Mountain Trails ends on FR 409. |

To reach Farwell Mountain Trail from Steamboat Springs Colorado, travel
west along Highway 40 for 2 miles and turn right onto Elk River Road (CR
129). Continue along FR 129 for 32 miles to FR 550. Turn right onto FR 550
and travel 2.5 miles to FR 500 and turn right. After 0.5 mile turn right
onto FR 402, which becomes very rough and wet with deep holes (4WD
recommended). The trailhead is 1 mile up the road.
