Available for both hiking & horseback
riding, the 3.5 mile Maroon Creek Trail is more convenient to start at
Maroon Lake and travel down valley so the bus can pick you up along Maroon
Creek Road. From the east side of Maroon Lake pick up the trail by
crossing the bridge and turning left to follow the trail down valley. In
2.5 miles the trail reaches another bridge on the left. You may leave the
trail here, cross the meadow on the left and catch a down valley bus. |

Or continue about
1.5 miles to the next bridge, cross and stay left, follow the trail to
it's junction with East Maroon Trail. Stay left at the junction and
continue down valley to the bridge at the East Maroon Portal. Cross the
bridge and walk up to the road to catch the bus. To reach
Maroon Creek Trail from mid-June through September, Maroon Creek is closed
from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.. You will need to take a shuttle. If you get an
early start drive 0.5 mile west of Aspen Colorado along Highway 82 to the
roundabout. Travel around the roundabout and turn onto Maroon Creek Road.
Continue 10.5 miles to the Maroon Lake parking area. |
