Lost Man Trail #1996
|
|
White
River National Forest
Offering a moderate climb with a couple of steep sections,
the 8.8 mile Lost Man Trail begins to the left of the bulletin board at Lost Man
Campground and quickly crosses a wooden bridge. Taking the right fork
at the 0.5 mile mark (left fork goes to Midway Pass), Lost Man Trail
continues to Lost Man Reservoir. Traveling around the left of the
reservoir, at about the 3.5 mile mark the trail reaches a junction. |
|
Turn right (left
goes to South Fork Pass), the trail gradually ascends to Lost Man Lake
where the trail ascends steeply to the top of the pass before descending
steeply to Independence Lake. Lost Man Trail descends gradually to Highway
82 about 4 miles from you starting point. Lost Man Trail
may be hiked in reverse from it's other trailhead. Follow directions to Linkins Lake Trail
#1979 which shares it's trailhead. To reach the Lost
Man Campground trailhead of the Lost Man Trail, travel 14 miles east of
Aspen Colorado along Highway 82 to the parking area directly across form
the campground. The trailhead is on the north (left) side of the road. |
