East Snowmass Trail #1977

Available for hikers, & horseback
riding, the 8.5 mile East Snowmass Trail begins ascending steeply and
forks to the right in about a mile. Continuing through spruce, aspen &
pine forest for about 3 miles, East Snowmass Trail then breaks out into a
meadow before continuing a moderately steep climb. Once on East Snowmass
Pass, the descent to Willow Lake is via switchbacks through a steep
boulder field. The last mile travels through rolling tundra to Willow
Lake. |

| To reach East Snowmass Trail from
Aspen Colorado, travel west along Highway 82 for 6 miles and turn left
onto Brush Creek Road. Continue along Brush Creek Road for 5.4 miles, turn
right onto Divide Road which turns into a gravel road. The road descends
steeply to the valley bottom where the road forks. Take the left fork. The
trailhead is just beyond the wooden bridge on the left. |
