Pitkin County Colorado 4WD Trails
Lincoln Creek Road #106
|
|
White
River National Forest
Available for hiking, mountain biking,
camping, and 4WD, the 11 mile Lincoln Creek Road is heavily used
for the first 6 miles to Grizzly Reservoir. From the reservoir to the
ghost town of Ruby the road is much less used. Ruby contains a few old
buildings which are in an advanced state of decay. From
it's beginning Lincoln Creek Road crosses a bridge and travels downhill
past Lincoln Gulch
Campground. Following Lincoln Creek the road travels in an
uphill/downhill pattern to Grizzly Reservoir. |

To continue to the ghost town of Ruby stay on the main
road which curves to the southeast of the reservoir and past Portal
Campground. Climbing easily to the ruins of an old mining cabin at the
9 mile mark. The road forks in another 0.5 mile and take the left fork
(right fork leads to the Petroleum & Anderson Lakes trailhead). The
road ends a short distance after Ruby. To reach Lincoln
Creek Road from Aspen Colorado, travel southeast along Highway 82 for 11
miles. Lincoln Creek Road is on the right side of the Highway. |
