Animas River Drainage
Located within the Columbine Ranger District of San
Juan National Forest, the 3.0 mile West Lime Creek Trail is rated more
difficult and receives medium use. West Lime Creek Trail begins and at an elevation of
9,800' (Trailhead off US 550) and an ending elevation of 10,900' (End of
Trail).
Traveling along West Lime Creek, West Lime Creek Trail
passes several waterfalls before fading out between the Twin Sisters. With
a compass and a topographic map it is possible to navigate a route to the
Twin Sisters or Colorado Trail. From here you may travel north or south,
climbing either of the Twin Sisters.
