Three access points are available for Engineer
Mountain Trail
Access #1: 31 miles north of Durango on US 550 from
Engineer Mountain Guard Station. To reach the station, 2/3 of a mile
past Cascade Village, turn west onto FDR 817 and travel 100 yards.
The trailhead is on the north side of the road just past the cattle
guard.
Access #2: Via the Pass Creek Trail, about 37 miles
north of Durango Colorado on US 550 at the top of Coal Bank Pass.
Turn west onto the dirt road and continue 2 miles to the junction
with the Engineer Mountain Trail.
Access #3: Rico-Silverton Trail
