Mineral County Colorado Hiking Trails
Roaring Fork Trail #807
|
|
Rio
Grande National Forest
Available for hiking, and horseback riding,
Roaring Fork Trail begins by traveling along a closed jeep road into the
large open Roaring Fork Park area. After entering the park and passing the
Weminuche Wilderness Boundary sign, the trail bears to the north side of
the park (off the jeep road). The trail is not well defined after leaving
the jeep road until it crosses Roaring Fork Creek, where the trail is more
defined as it parallels the creek. The trail follows the creek down the
drainage to the Goose Creek Trail junction, after which the trail begins a
steep descent down the narrow, rocky bottom of the Roaring Fork Drainage.
After about a mile the trail will come to private land boundary fence
above Humphrey Lake Property. At this point the "system" trails
end. You may still follow the cow trail going both directions along the
fence. The trail to the north leads towards the Pagoda Peak area, while to
the south will merge with Goose Creek Trail. |

intersection with FR 523 (Middle Creek Road. Follow signs to North Lime
Creek trailhead, about 12.5 miles away. Roaring Fork Trail begins about
20-30 yards east of the trailhead info station. |
