White
River National Forest
Heavily used by hikers traveling from Aspen to Crested
Butte, the 3.5 mile East Fork/West Maroon Pass is located within Maroon
Bells/Snowmass Wilderness. The first 3 miles of this trail are easy, while
the last 0.5 mile is more difficult. The trail connects with Hasley Basin,
Frigid Air Pass and West Maroon Pass.
To reach East Fork/West Maroon Pass from Carbondale
Colorado, travel south along Highway 133 for 25 miles and take the Marble
turn to the left. Travel through Marble and past Beaver Lake. |
|
| The road begins to travel uphill
and pass over shale rock, at this point you will need 4WD. About a mile
outside Marble there is a fork in the road. Take Road #314 to the right
and travel downhill. Crystal City is reached in about 5.5 miles. Pass
Crystal & continue uphill, bearing right at the next fork. Continue
about 5 more miles pat Schofield Park to the trailhead parking on the
left. |
