Available for Hiking & Horseback riding, the 6.0 mile Poplar Gulch Trail
travels south over a ridge and descends into the upper portion of the Chalk
Creek Canyon. Poplar Gulch Trail is steep and rocky and offers views from the
top of the ridge. Camping is permitted off the trail.

From Saint Elmo, travel along CR 267 (Tincup Pass Road) for 0.25 miles to CR
267A. CR 267A turns to the right and dead ends at the trail head.
From Buena Vista travel 7 miles along CR 306 (Cottonwood Pass Road) to CR 344
and turn left. Continue along CR 344 for 6 miles. Poplar Gulch Trailhead is
located on the left near South Cottonwood Creek. A small bridge crosses the
stream at the trailhead.
