Rainbow Lakes Trail #918, Boulder County Colorado Hiking Trails

Located within the Boulder Ranger District, the 1 mile Rainbow Lakes Trail travels west and enters Indian Peaks Wilderness. Rainbow Lakes Trail is an easy hike up to Rainbow Lakes, a series of small lakes & beaver ponds.

To reach Rainbow Lakes Trail from Nederland Colorado, travel north along Highway 72 for 7 miles and turn west onto Rainbow Lakes Road (CR 116/NFSR 298).

Continue along Rainbow Lakes Road past the University of Colorado Mountain Research Station sign. About 1 mile past Sourdough Trailhead, turn left (south) to stay on NFSR 298 and follow signs for Rainbow Lakes Campground. Trailhead is at the west end of the campground.
