James Peak Lake Trail #804

Located within the Boulder Ranger District, James Peak Lake Trail
lies above the timberline at 11,600' elevation. From the trailhead,
James Peak Lake Trail drops 500' in 0.5 miles as it travels to James
Peak Lake. At the bottom of the slope, near where it enters the trees,
the Ute Trail forks right (north). To get to James Peak Lake, follow the
trail which stays on an old wagon road, west (left another 0.7 miles up
the valley.

To reach James Peak Lake Trail travel west along CR 16 (Moffat Road, and
Rollins Pass Road) which is gravel out of the town of Rollinsville. At
the townsite of Tolland (about 5 miles from Rollinsville), turn left
onto CR 4N and continue 3.5 miles to NFSR 353 (rough road, 4WD
high-clearance recommended). Follow NFSR 353 west for 3.3 miles to the
trailhead.
