Forest Lakes Trail #809

Arapaho
and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland
Located within the Boulder Ranger District, Forest Lakes Trail from
it's lower end at the South Boulder Creek Trail, cuts across the front
of a steep ridge on an abandoned road for 0.5 miles to meet up with
Arapaho Creek. The creek crossings have bridges. At the Arapaho Lakes Trail/Forest
Lakes Trail intersection, Forest Lakes Trail turns away from the creek
to the northeast on a gentle grade & continues on to the lower of
the 2 lakes. Following the trail around the lower lake to the northwest
leads to the upper Forest Lake & finally connects to the trailhead
on Moffat Road.

To reach Forest Lakes Trail from Nederland, travel south along Highway
119 & go west out of Rollinsville on CR 16 (gravel) which is alos
Moffat Road or Rollins Pass Road. Continue along CR 16 for 7 miles where
CR 7 ends at A T-junction. Turn left and continue 1 miles to park at the
East Portal Trailhead. If you have a high-clearance vehicle, you may go
right and continue another 11 miles to park at the Forest Lakes
Trailhead.
