| This campground has 20 campsites. All campsites are available on a
first-come, first-served basis. Each
unit has a paved parking spur, fire grill and picnic table.
Some have a grassy area for tents.
Flush toilets are open in the summer months, and portable vault
toilets are provided in winter. Drinking
water is available in the summer months. A
trailer waste disposal station is located near the campground’s exit.
Recreation vehicles up to 32 feet can be accommodated in some of the
campsites. There is no pay phone in
this campground. The nearest pay
phone is in Sugar Grove, approximately 2 ½ miles to the north.
Availability of an on-site campground host is sporadic. |

| This campground is open from late April through December. The Forest
Service does not plow the campground loop when it snows. Weekend use is low
to moderate and weekday use is low. The campground typically fills to
capacity during summer holiday weekends. |
Directions:
From I-81 take exit 45 at Marion onto Virginia State
Route 16 south. Follow SR 16
south for approximately 13 miles to the campground on the right. Six water
and electric hookup sites were added to Raccoon branch Campground in 2003.
