| This primitive campground offers two open fields for
camping. Hitching rails are located around the perimeter. Vault
toilets are provided. There is no potable water. Designated stream
access points are provided for watering horses. Showers are available
between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at nearby Grindstone Campground for a fee of $2.
No horses are allowed in Grindstone Campground. There is no pay phone,
and cellular phones do not work in Fox Creek. The nearest phone is at
the Grindstone Campground entrance station about 1 mile to the west, or in a
Konnarock convenience store about 3 miles to the west. |

| This campground is open year-round. The use is typically low
during weekdays, except summer holidays; the use is typically moderate
during weekends. The campground usually fills during major holidays such as
Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. It is not unusual to see high
amount of use during other holidays as well. |
Directions:
From I-81 southbound at Marion take exit 45 onto
State Route 16 south. Follow SR
16 for 17 miles to SR 603 at Troutdale.
Turn right on SR 603,
follow it for approximately 4 miles to the campground on the left.
From I-81 northbound at Chilhowie take exit 35 onto Virginia state route
762 south. This will turn into
VA 600. Follow VA 600 across
Iron Mountain, then turn left onto SR 603.
Follow VA 603 for approximately 3 miles and enter the gravel
campground entrance on the left.
From Independence take U.S. 58 west to SR 16 north to Troutdale.
Turn left on SR 603 and go approximately 4 miles to the campground on
the left.
