Big Dog OHV Route

Daniel Boone National Forest

Length: 2.7 miles

This segment of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail is located on old logging roads along Big Dog Branch. In many locations trees have reclaimed the roadbed, allowing only ATV’s, motorcycles, horses and hikers where heavy logging trucks once rolled. Several hardened creek fords require care in crossing to prevent damage to the trail and disturbance to the stream environment.

Big Dog OHV Route begins at Forest Development Road (FDR) 457 and ends at the end of road 457.
Directions:

Take KY 192 west from London and go 6 miles. Turn right (north) on FDR 56 (sign to Cane Creek Wildlife Management Area) and go 4.7 miles. Turn left (west) on FDR 119 and go 3.2 miles. Turn right (north) on FDR 457 and go .5 miles. Trail on right.

Please Note: The National Forest Service has implemented new regulations which will only allow ATV (e.g., 3 & 4 wheelers) and motorcycles on these trails. Please visit http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/boone/recreation/ohv_main.shtml for more details
