Montgomery County Maryland Hiking Trails

Black Hill Trail

 

Located within the 1,300 acre Black Hill Regional Park, the 4.3 mile Black Hill Trail has an asphalt surface for most of it's length, however the steep and rocky mid-section remains a natural surface.

To reach Black Hill Regional Park

From the 495 Beltway, take I270 North to Exit 16 (Father Hurley Blvd/Ridge Road, Route 27) and turn right off the ramp. Continue to the second light and turn left (north) onto Frederick Road (Route 355). Follow Frederick road for 0.75 miles to West Old Baltimore Road and turn left. Travel 1.5 miles along West Old Baltimore Road to Lake Ridge Drive and turn left. Continue 1.5 miles along Lake Ridge Drive to the park entrance.

From Frederick, take I-270 South to Exit 18 (Clarksburg Road, Route 121) and turn right off the ramp. Continue south along Clarksburg Road for 1.5 miles and turn left onto West Old Baltimore Road. Follow West Old Baltimore Road for 1 mile and turn right onto Lake Ridge Drive.

 
 

Black Hill Regional Park offers over 10 miles of natural surface trail including:

  1. Cabin Branch Trail
  2. Cool Spring Run
  3. Crystal Rock Trail
  4. Field Crest Spur
  5. Hamilton Trail
  6. Hard Rock Trail
  7. Hoyles Mill Trail
  8. Lake View Loop
  9. Osprey Heights Loop
  10. Turkey Hill Loop
