Branching
off from Wilderness Trail, the 7.5 mile
Potato Knob Trail follows a ridge to Ridge Road.
It joins the road for
0.5 miles and descends the mountain through a grove of exceptionally large
trees. A short side trail on the
Ridge Road offers a view of Tenskwatawa
Falls. Crossing Fall Road,
the trail circles around the southern side of Potato Knob to “the
Chute”. From here it is a
steep ascend to the summit of Potato Knob.

River State Park is located on WV 20, 32 miles south of Buckhannon and 20
miles north of Webster Springs. Interstate 79 running north/south through
central West Virginia offers access to WV 20 at several points.
