Brooke County West Virginia Hiking Trails
|
Traveling along the east bank of the Ohio River, between
State highway 2 and the river, the 6.7 mile Broke Pioneer Trail
is available for walking, biking,
and cross country skiing. Traveling along an
asphalt path, this Rail-Trail continues into Ohio County where
Brooke Pioneer Trail becomes the Wheeling Heritage Trail for a
total of 18 miles. Interpretive signs are located along Brooke
Pioneer Trail which describe the railroad history.
To reach Brooke Pioneer Trail in Wellsburg West Virginia park
just south of the bridge off State Route 2, south of town.
Limited parking is available just south of the trail in Beech
Bottom.
Parking is also available in Short Creek, just south of the
bridge off WV2 at Stone Shannon Road.
