Tsali Trails

Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.

Nantahala National Forest

Length: 39.0  miles
Rating: Strenuous

Challenging - that's the best word to describe the 39 miles of Tsali Trails, rated as "more difficult".

Suited for hikers. mountain bikers, and horseback riders, the 4 - loop system offers a variety of landscapes. Hikers may travel the trails on any day, but mountain bikers and equestrians, the primary users, are kept separated by alternating use of the trails. A schedule is posted at all trailheads.

The Four Loops are:

  1. Right Loop
  2. Left Loop
  3. Mouse Branch
  4. Thompson Loop

Directions:

From Bryson City, take U.S. 19 S. 9 miles, turn right on NC 28 for 5.5 miles. Turn right at the sign for Tsali Recreation Area on FR 521 (gravel) for 1.5 miles.
