Kilauea Iki Trail

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Beginning on the crater's rim in the rain forest, the 4 mile Kilauea Iki Trail descends 400' through the rainforest to the crater floor, crossing the crater floor which is still steaming crater floor, before returning to it's starting point via the crater's rim.

Kilauea Iki Trail begins at the Kilauea Iki parking lot on Crater Rim Drive. Traveling left at the trailhead will take you to the Thurston Lava Tube parking lot and then to the floor of Kilauea Iki. Traveling right will take you through the rain forest on the crater rim and down to the crater floor.

Kilauea Iki Trail is rated moderate to challenging.
