Located within Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, the 1.0 mile Petrified Forest Loop is rated Easy and passes several giant petrified redwood tree stumps, and the historic "Scudder" excavation pit as it travels through the bed of ancient Lake Florissant.

To reach Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument from Florissant Colorado follow signs 2 miles south to the visitor center on CR 1.
