Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve
Distance: 1.0 mile
Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous
At 650 feet high (from base to top), The High Dune is the most accessible
of the big dunes. The top offers views of the entire dunefield, the
surrounding mountains, and the San Luis Valley. The High Dune trailhead is
located at the Dunes Parking Lot.

Directions:
Great Sand Dunes National Monument is located 35 miles northeast of
Alamosa, Colorado, reached by US Highway 160 and Colorado Highway 150 from
the south. or from Colorado Highway 17 and County Six Mile Lane from the
west.
Please Note: Great Sand Dunes
National Monument is located in both Alamosa County
and Saguache County, therefore The High Dune is being listed
in both Counties.
