Available for hiking, horseback riding, ATVs
& motorcycles, Black Canyon Trail ascends Black Canyon to reach
alpine terrain, then stays in the high country all the way to Hyden pass.
Both ends of Black Canyon Trail is accessible by 4WD.
Access:

From Villa Grove Colorado travel east along Hayden
Pass Road to FR 790 to the top of Hayden Pass. 4WD only.

Via Steel Canyon Trail #755, however, a public
right-of-way does not exist from the bottom.

From the junction of Highways 17 & 285, travel
east along Valley View Road for 6 miles t the dirt road which travels
north toward Orient Mine. turn east onto north toward Orient Mine. 4WD
only.

Travel east along Valley View road from the junction
of Highway 17 & 285 for 3.25 miles t the dirt road whch goes
north. Continue past one ranch home to travel north 1.5 miles. Go
through gate in fence and follow dire 2 track road to NE for abut 2.25
miles passing through one fence. By pass private land that is in
Section 15 by folowing 2 track road around fence line to the east.
Hook into 4WD road and continue southeast across Lime Canyon fro a
total of 2.25 miles. Follow FR 745 east onto Black Canyon.
