Available for hiking, and horseback riding,
Elk Creek Trail begins by climbing high above Elk Creek where the valley
narrows overlooking the boulder strewn stream. Elk Creek Trail then
follows the valley with Elk Creek through the First, Secone, & Third
Meadows. At the head of Elk Creek Canyon, the trail climbs the steep
southern slope to Dipping Lakes before joining the Continental Divide
Trail above Dipping Lakes.

To reach Elk Creek Trail from Antonito Colorado, travel west along Highway
17 for about 23 miles to the Elk Creek
Campground turnoff, continue 0.5 mile past the campground entrance
to the trailhead. At the trailhead area, Duck Lake Trail will be to the
left, while Elk Creek Trail is accessed if you stay right, just beyond the
toilet building.
