Wilderness
Located within the Mount Evans Wilderness, the 4.0 mile Chicago Lakes
Trail is rated as More Difficult. The Chicago Lakes Trailhead has an
elevation of 10,600 while it's destination has an elevation of 11,800.
Leaving Echo Lake, Chicago Lakes Trail travels downhill for the first
mile, here Chicago Creek is dammed to form the Idaho Springs Reservoir. The
trail climbs upward for the remaining 3 miles.

Trailhead Location:
- At the junction of Hwy 103 and 5, Chicago Lakes Trail starts behind
the Echo Lake Lodge.
- Several social trails are in the area, choose the one which heads
southwest.
- Chicago Lakes Trail can also be accessed by the Denver Mountain Parks
picnic area and scenic path around Echo Lake.
