We
have at least one event every weekend and average two or three events a
week (mostly on the weekend). There is no membership fee; we just pay for
costs we incur, such as gas, parking fees, etc. Joining ASH is simple - just show up! To go on an activity, just contact
the event leader listed in the weekly email or this site to RSVP, if
requested. Usually, you can just show up and go. To get on the ASH email
list, simply send a request to Charles Dean at Cdean@lsil.com

Berg Wanderers
The Berg Wanderers are a Charlotte-area club formed in
the 70's by people wanting to make friends with others who enjoy outdoor
activities. 'Berg Wanderer' means mountain wanderer in German, which is
how the club was named by its founders. The Bergs are very active in many
outdoor activities throughout the year. We are a very informal, friendly
group of outdoors enthusiasts who meet monthly to plan outdoor trips to a
variety places. Our membership is as varied as our outings, which include
families, married couples and singles of all ages.
Outings regularly include hiking, backpacking, canoe/kayak paddling (flat
& whitewater), biking (street & mountain), skiing (cross-country
& downhill), camping, and whitewater rafting. Some of the unique trips
include skydiving, rock hopping, orienteering, and moonlit trips. Any and
all types of trips are possible. Sometimes there are even indoor
activities such as going to a movie, or touring a local brewery.
And we might mention, that we are pretty good eaters. Some have said we do
all these outdoor activities to keep off all the pounds we eat!

Charlotte
Lady Hikers
Open to lady hikers of any age, but we are mostly middle aged women. We usually drive up to 2 or 3 hrs from Charlotte, and hike around 5 to 7 miles per trip. We are day hikers, and schedule two Saturday hikes per month, plus weekly Thursday hikes. Our group provides opportunities to enjoy the comraderie of friends and the natural beauty all around us. This is the third year since our hiking group was formed, and we have visited many state parks in North and South Carolina, and also greenways, nature preserves, and national forests in these two states and Virginia. We have formed and enjoyed many new friendships through our hiking group, and also enjoyed the fitness challenges of the trails. Each trip is an adventure from planning the hike to actually walking it, and we look forward to many more exciting adventures.
