Chimney Rock Trail
Point Reyes National Seashore
Distance: 1.2 miles
Chimney Rock Trail offers views of Drakes Bay and the
Pacific Ocean. Rocky cliffs drop off steeply to the water, there is no beach
access. From January through May, look for migrating whales from the point.
Fog and winds can make this hike challenging. (Through December, Chimney
Rock Road is closed to vehicle traffic and hikers will need to park at the
Sunset Beach Overlook, just to the east of the "A" Ranch on
Chimney Rock Road and walk along the road about 1 mile to the Chimney Rock
Trailhead. After December, hikers will again be able to park at the Chimney
Rock Trailhead, near the Lighthouse, a 40-minute drive from the Bear Valley
Visitor Center)..
