Rated as Easy, the Peter Strauss Trail is well suited for the novice
hiker as it traverses chaparral and oak riparian habitats. Late winter and
spring are the best times to view native plants in bloom.

The Backbone Trail continues west to Sycamore Canyon and other trails in
Point Mugu State Park. Maps should be obtained before entering the Boney
Mountain Wilderness Area.
Directions:
Ventura Fwy (101) to Kanan Rd exit. South on Kanan
Rd 2.8 miles. Left on Troutdale Rd to Mulholland Hwy. Left on Mulholland Hwy
then right under the arch into the parking lot. Walk back across the bridge
on Mulholland Hwy and enter main gate into the ranch.
